Nexefy Skills Library

Designing an award-winning workplace learning library

Building a repeatable instructional-design approach across leadership, inclusion, cybersecurity, emerging technology, and workplace capability.

A scalable digital learning library spanning workplace capability, leadership, inclusion, compliance, and emerging technology — built around learner-centred design, practical application, and strong visual storytelling.

Nexefy Skills Library digital learning collection

One library. Very different capability problems.

Nexefy’s Skills Library was designed to give organisations ready-to-deploy learning across a wide range of workforce needs, from leadership, communication, and wellbeing to neurodiversity, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.

The challenge was to create a coherent learning product without turning every subject into the same generic course.

Each experience needed to be practical, visually engaging, accessible to non-specialist learners, and suitable for delivery across different organisational and LMS environments.

A repeatable system, not a repeated template

Start with the performance need

Define the audience, problem, context, and what learners need to think, feel, or do differently.

Research before writing

Build authoritative content from credible sources and collaborate with subject matter experts where specialist knowledge is required.

Design for application

Use realistic scenarios, questions, and practical examples rather than passive information delivery.

Make complexity accessible

Translate specialist and technical concepts into clear workplace learning without stripping away the meaning.

The same instructional-design principles sat beneath the library, while each subject retained its own visual identity, examples, narrative, and interaction design.

Design began before the storyboard

Course development started with the problem, audience, objectives, and organisational context before moving into research, learning architecture, scripting, visual and interaction design, development, review, and release.

LEARNING DESIGN

Journey of Learning Design

Designed to support people moving into instructional and learning design, this suite covered learner-centred design, training needs analysis, learning objectives, visual and interaction design, accessibility, assessment, and feedback.

Supporting micromodules turned core concepts such as writing learning objectives and conducting a training needs analysis into focused, practical learning experiences.

Henno was publicly named as one of the senior instructional designers contributing guidance and expertise to the course.

NEURODIVERSITY

Turning sensitive subject matter into practical workplace decisions

Henno wrote the Neurodiversity in the Workplace suite in collaboration with neurodiversity consultant Nicci Richman.

The learning explored language, workplace barriers, accommodations, inclusive hiring, neurodiversity-friendly projects, and the organisational value of different ways of thinking.

Rather than treating inclusion as abstract theory, the course used practical workplace situations and explicit language guidance to help learners understand what to say, what to avoid, and how to act.

GENERATIVE AI

Teaching judgement, not just technology

Emerging-technology learning was designed to make complex concepts accessible to non-technical audiences.

In the Generative AI course, learners were encouraged to evaluate the business problem first and decide whether AI was actually the right solution, rather than assuming every challenge required new technology.

This performance-focused approach connected technical understanding with practical workplace decision-making.

CYBERSECURITY

Making technical risk understandable

Cybersecurity learning translated online and offline risks into practical guidance employees could apply immediately.

The course combined strong visual storytelling with real-world topics including cyber threats, public WiFi, secure remote work, and social media safety.

It was consistently one of Nexefy’s strongest-performing courses across partner learning platforms including Go1.

LEARNING THROUGH STORY AND METAPHOR

Making abstract ideas concrete

Courses such as Leadership & Wellbeing used visual metaphor, workplace scenarios, and narrative to make concepts such as burnout, psychosocial safety, and organisational wellbeing easier to understand and remember.

The purpose of the visual treatment was not decoration. It gave learners a mental model they could connect back to workplace decisions and behaviour.

EXTERNAL RECOGNITION

A learning product built around transfer, not content volume

The Skills Library reflects the approach I bring to digital learning: understand the performance problem, research the subject properly, collaborate with experts, make complexity accessible, and create experiences that help people apply what they learn.

The result was not one template repeated across different subjects, but a scalable learning product with a consistent design philosophy and enough flexibility for every topic to feel relevant, credible, and distinctive.
